How to Take Care of Your Handball

A good handball is essential when you play. When you’ve just bought a new ball, it often gives you fresh energy and motivation to perform at your best during training. Want to keep that feeling for as long as possible? Then make sure to take good care of your ball! In this blog, we’ll share some tips to help extend the lifespan of your handball — because when your ball isn’t performing well, neither can you.

Tip 1: Store your handball properly

That doesn’t mean you need to lock it away in a secret safe. But don’t leave your ball in a damp or overly warm place. This can affect its shape and the quality of the materials. It’s also important not to leave your ball in direct sunlight for days on end — storing your handball outside is a definite no-go. Instead, choose a room where you can keep it at normal room temperature.

Tip 2: Clean the ball

After use, dirt and sweat can build up on the surface. Wipe the ball with a slightly damp cloth and dry it thoroughly. Avoid using cleaning agents, as they can damage the grip. Do you use resin? Then it’s even more important to clean your ball properly. Take a look at our range of resin removers to help get rid of any sticky residue.

Tip 3: Use the ball for its intended purpose

Don’t do anything unusual with your handball. That means no playing on rough surfaces, no sitting on it, no using it as a football, and definitely no playing with it in water.

Tip 4: Check the air pressure

If your ball is too hard or too soft, it will wear out faster. Check the recommended air pressure — did you know it’s often printed directly on the ball? Use a ball pump with a pressure gauge to make sure it stays at the right level.
